Tips for a neat result

  • Slow speed is the key to smooth curves.
  • Clip an inward curve and notch an outward curve, then press.

Common mistakes and fixes

The curve looks angular.

You made big turns. Make small, frequent adjustments instead.

The seam allowance varies.

You looked at the needle. Watch the guide.

The seam puckers when turned.

The allowance was not clipped. Clip or notch it, leaving a gap of at least 1/8 in (3 mm) from the stitching.

Check your result

  • The curve is smooth, with no flat spots or points.
  • The seam allowance is even along the curve.
