Step by step
Tips for a neat result
- Press hard. Neat folds make a neat hem.
- On curved edges, use a slightly shorter stitch.
Common mistakes and fixes
The raw edge peeks out.
The second fold was too narrow or slipped. Press more accurately.
The hem is wavy.
The fabric stretched during pressing or sewing. Press, don't drag the iron.
Check your result
- The hem is even in width with no raw edge visible.
- Stitches are close to the inner fold.
